Neighbourhood Investment Facility

Neighbourhood Investment Facility

Cumulative

  • Project-Specific Cofinancing $7.9 million

Officially launched in May 2008, the Neighbourhood Investment Facility (NIF) is an innovative financial instrument designed to offer more European Union (EU) support for the economic development of its neighbors. Its primary aim is to help key investment infrastructure projects in the transport, energy, social, and environment sectors and support private sector development (small and medium-sized enterprises) in the Neighbourhood region. Projects receiving a grant from NIF must be in a European Neighbourhood Policy partner that signed an action plan with the EU (currently Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Moldova, Morocco, the West Bank and Gaza, Tunisia, and Ukraine).
