Asia Investment Facility

Cumulative

  • Project-Specific Cofinancing $41.1 million

The Asia Investment Facility (AIF) was established in 2010 in line with the European Union’s regional strategy for Asia. Its main objective was to mobilize support for projects that advance sustainable development and equality across Asia. It focused on widening access to essential services through enhanced infrastructure or by creating economic opportunities and jobs. AIF-backed projects are implemented in sectors including energy, water, transport, the private sector, and environmental protection.

The AIF and other subregional investment facilities of the European Union—the Investment Facility for Central Asia and the Investment Facility for the Pacific—were replaced by their successor Asia Pacific Investment Facility.
